Has your pension been set too high or too low?

Your pension is in safe hands with us. We calculate your pension with the utmost care. Unfortunately, we may occasionally not have calculated your pension entirely correctly. For example, because your employer or the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) provides us with other data afterwards. As a result, you may receive a pension that is too high or too low. This page explains how we deal with this.

We will restore your pension if it is set too high or too low

The level and duration of your pension are determined by the pension scheme rules. If a member receives too much compared to the pension scheme rules, other members will be disadvantaged. If we notice your pension is incorrect, we have to correct it. We will notify you and adjust your pension. We have special rules for this. These rules are contained in our revision policy (pdf).

How do we deal with corrections?

We regularly check the data we receive from employers. Sometimes, this data is supplied too late or incorrectly. This sometimes requires us to make corrections. Corrections resulting in a reduction expire after 6 months. This means we will no longer process them. Corrections resulting in an increase are always processed, so you receive the pension to which you are entitled.

Disagree with the adjustment of your pension?

Do you disagree with the adjustment of your pension? In that case, you can submit a complaint to the board of Pensioenfonds PGB.

Pension that has been calculated too high may relate to pension you have already received. But it may also relate to a pension you will receive in the future.

Pension received in the past
Did you receive too much pension? In that case, you must pay back the excess pension you received. We can also set this off against future pension payments you receive from us. Or you can repay us in one go. Would you prefer a repayment plan? Do not hesitate to contact us.

We will take your personal situation into account. Could you have known you received too much pension? Or do very special circumstances apply? For example, you informed us that the pension was too high and we didn't act on this information? In that case, you may not have to repay (all of) the excess pension you received. If you have been receiving too much pension for more than 5 years, you only pay back the excess you received in the current calendar year and the 5 years before that.

Future pension
In the future, you will receive the pension you are entitled to according to the pension scheme rules.  If we reduce the amount of your pension, your future pension payments will be lower.

We will take your personal situation into account. Do very special circumstances apply that lead to a very unreasonable situation? For example, a serious physical or mental health situation? In that case, we may decide against the pension reduction.

If you are effectively entitled to a higher pension than the one you receive from us, we will adjust your pension. You will then receive a higher monthly pension from us from that moment on. And you will receive the underpaid amount via a one-off supplementary payment.

A subsequent payment may affect allowances
This subsequent payment may have consequences for your tax return or allowances. This is because you have more income in the year in which you receive this supplementary payment than in other years.

Subsequent payment after transfer of value
You can also receive a subsequent payment if you transferred your pension to another pension fund. We usually arrange this directly with your new pension provider. However, sometimes this is not possible; for example, if you are no longer accruing a pension with the other pension fund. We will notify you if this happens. The pension that is still managed by us will remain yours; you will not lose it. You can always transfer your pension to another pension fund at a later date.
