Frequently asked questions digital ‘life certificate’

Submitting your certificate of life

  • How do I know if you have received my certificate of life?

If you have completed all the steps in the app, you will receive a message that your certificate of life has been sent. You will receive a letter from us once we have processed your certificate in our records. If we are unable to process your certificate of life, we will contact you. We will do this no later than two weeks after you sent us your certificate of life.

  • I don’t like sending my data digitally. Can I send my certificate of life in another way?

Yes, of course you can. You can simply download the certificate of life form and print it out. You then need to take this form to an official body. This can be the municipality, the police or a civil-law notary. Ask them to complete, sign and stamp the form. If you receive an official certificate of life from the official body, you can send that certificate to us instead. Don’t forget to state your client number on the form. Has the form been fully completed and signed? Make sure to send the form to us within six weeks. If we haven’t received the form back after six weeks, then unfortunately, we will discontinue your pension payments

  • I already have a completed certificate of life from another body. Can I submit this instead?

Already have a completed certificate of life from another body? For example, because you had to send it to the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) for your state pension (AOW)? Or to another pension provider? If you want, you can (send a copy of) that certificate to us instead. Please note: your certificate of life must not be older than three months from the date of our letter or e-mail.

About the app

  • What is a QR code and how does it work?

A QR code is a kind of barcode that you scan with the camera of your smartphone. This gives you easy access to a website or app. Start the app and follow the instructions in the app.

Using the app

  • What should I pay attention to when making a scan of my face?

    • Try to move your smartphone as little as possible.
    • Make sure there is enough light (with your face towards the light) and a quiet background.
    • Hold your smartphone right in front of your face.
    • Make sure your face fits within the oval on the screen.
    • Do not wear a face covering and/or sunglasses.

Your data

  • What happens with my data? And what data is stored?

We need to check the validity of your identity document. For this, we look at the personal information that is on the RFID chip of your identity document. We use this information to recognise you and to determine that you are still alive.

For security reasons, we need to process and store your personal information for a short period of time, which is never longer than 50 days. Once we’ve processed your certificate of life, we’ll delete this data. We store the same information as you previously entered on the form. This is supplemented with data from the session during which we performed the verification, such as the time at which the check was made.

  • Is my data safe?

Pensioenfonds PGB respects your privacy and ensures that your personal data is processed confidentially and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can find more information about this in the Pensioenfonds PGB Privacy statement and in the privacy statement of the ReadID Ready app. Do you have any questions about the privacy statement?
