On 6 October, the minister announced that more time is needed for the elaboration of the new act and that the intended effective date of 1 January 2023 will not be met.
The effective date of the new act has been postponed to 1 July 2023
All pension funds must be ready for the new pension rules by 1 January 2027 at the latest. That hasn’t changed. But if social partners (employees and employers’ representatives) and pension funds are ready before that, they can also switch to the new pension system earlier. The Lower House will continue to debate the act in the coming period. This is followed by a debate in the Upper House. If the Upper and Lower House agree, the new pension rules are expected to come into effect on 1 July 2023.
