Accountability body

The Accountability Body represents the interests of several employers who are affiliated to Pensioenfonds PGB; and, naturally, all the participants: employees, ex-employees (‘deferred participants’) and pensioners. On these pages, you can read what the Accountability Body is and what the members of this body do.

Accountability Body

The Accountability Body consists of 15 members:

  • 3 representatives on behalf of the employees

    Pieter Verhorst

"As a member of the Accountability Body, I am proud that our Pensioenfonds PGB has become more professional and is increasingly attracting more participants. The only worry I have is that the costs per participant are not yet decreasing accordingly."

Pieter Verhorst represents the CNV Vakmensen (Professionals in the National Federation of Christian Trade Unions in the Netherlands) in the Accountability Body and is a member of:
    - Pension Management and Communications

    Peter Schimmel

Peter Schimmel has been appointed by FNV and is member of:
    - Balance Sheet Management Committee

    Camiel Camps

"The new pension system will bring many changes in the future. That reminds me of a David Suzuki quote: 'The future doesn't exist. The only thing that exists is now and our memory of what happened in the past. But because we invented the idea of a future, we're the only animal that realised we can affect the future by what we do today.'"

"I will do everything I can to ensure that the future of the new pension scheme at PGB is as fair as possible."

Camiel Camps has been appointed by the Dutch Trade Union Confederation (FNV).

  • 5 representatives on behalf of the pensioners

    Tonnie Klein Hemmink

"As a representative of the pensioners on behalf of the Vereniging van Gepensioneerden van Pensioenfonds PGB (the Association of PGB Pensioners) being informed and listening to those I represent is very important in order to be able to weigh up issues in a balanced way."

Tonnie Klein Hemmink has been appointed by the Vereniging van Gepensioneerden (the Association of Pensioners) and is a member of:
    - Governance Committee
    - Risk and Audit (chair)
    - WTP- Committee (chair of Committee New pension system)

    Jos van Rijsingen

“I am a member of the Accountability Body on behalf of the pensioners and, therefore, pay special attention to all the Board’s plans and proposals to ensure sufficient attention is taken of our interests. But actually, in the Accountability Body, we want to ensure that everyone is treated fairly; this is referred to as solidarity!”

Jos van Rijsingen is Chair of the Accountability Body and a member of:
    - Pension Management and Communication Committee

    Harrie Vugs

Harrie Vugs has been appointed by CNV Vakmensen (Professionals in the National Federation of Christian Trade Unions in the Netherlands) on behalf of the pensioners.
    Harry is member of:
    - Governance Committee
    - Risk and Audit Committee

    Willy Rozenkamp

Willy Rozenkamp has been appointed by FNV (the Dutch Trade Union Confederation) on behalf of the pensioners.
    - Pension Management and Communications Committee

    Bas Rietdijk

The characteristic of Pensioenfonds PGB is that, in addition to mandatory memberships, it has many voluntary memberships from all kinds of industries. This makes it a sanctuary for mostly smaller pension funds that can no longer or do not want to continue independently. The flexibility that makes this possible is one of Pensioenfonds PGB’s strengths. Naturally, this has made the pension fund a complex organisation, both in terms of management and implementation. Complexity costs money and that translates into the costs per participant. An important point of attention, because money spent on costs is not available for pension benefits.

    - Governance Committee
    - Balance Sheet Management Committee

  • 5 representatives on behalf of the employers

    Govert van der Peijl

“It is our job to ensure that participants, pensioners, deferred participants and employers remain informed about the complex process of pensions."

Govert van der Peijl has been appointed by the Werkgeversraad van Pensioenfonds PGB (the Employer’s Board of Pensioenfonds PGB) and is a member of:
    - Balance Sheet Management Committee
    - Risk and Audit Committee

    Robert Manning

“Unfortunately, many participants only become interested in their pension by the time they need their first pair of reading glasses. However, pension has many interesting aspects, while the financial and social stakes involved are particularly high. Therefore, make sure that you have a clear idea of the monthly amount you need for day-to-day life!”

Robert Manning has been appointed by the Werkgeversraad van Pensioenfonds PGB (the Employer’s Board of Pensioenfonds PGB).
    Robert is member of:
    - Governance Committee
    - Pension Management and Communications Committee
    - Balance Sheet Management Committee (chair)

    Jannet Visser

"We represent the interest of employees, employers and pension beneficiaries. Many do not know that. I would like to make that more widely known."

Jannet Visser has been appointed by the Werkgeversraad van Pensioenfonds PGB (Employer's Board of Pensioenfonds PGB) and is a member of:
    - Governance Committee
    - Pension Management and Communications Committee (chair)

    Charissa Schutte

“I want to contribute to a transparent and fair pension system, especially because there are so many changes going on in the world of pensions. With my experience in the fields of taxation and remuneration policy, I hope to properly represent the voice of our participants and ensure a sustainable future for our pension fund”.

Charissa Schutte has been appointed by the Employers' Council of Pensioenfonds PGB and is a member of:
    - Risk and Audit Committee

“For many employers, a pension is the most important fringe benefit and a means of giving substance to good employment practices. It is therefore important that the pension fund is managed well and that employers are also involved.”

Martine Bink has been appointed by the Employers' Council of Pensioenfonds PGB and is a member of:
    - Balance Sheet Management Committee

What do we do?

The Board of Pensioenfonds PGB is accountable to us for the policy implemented. We regularly discuss topical subjects with the Board as well as policies that are being prepared. The Board can then assess how we, as representatives of the parties concerned, think about these issues. Our opinion in respect of the policy implemented is published in the pension fund’s annual report.

As the Accountability Body, we like to consider the future. Consequently, we discuss future developments with the Board.

Here you can refer to our brochure (in Dutch only).

Advice

We have the right to give advice about a number of subjects. For example, the level of the pension contributions and the affiliation of new employers. We have regular consultations with both the Board and the Supervisory Board. Naturally, it is not the intention that we sit on the Boards, but we like to think about the main issues alongside them.

Contacts with the participants and employers

We deem it important to know what things are going on among the participants and employers. To find out, we attend meetings of sector committees, the Employer’s Board and the Association of Pensioners. We also want to form (digital) communities of interested parties. In this way, we acquire information and can say what we are working on.

Important topics for the Accountability Body in 2023

  • This year, as the Accountability Body, we are spending a lot of time making sure we are familiar with and understand the new pension system. We do this with both the Board and the Supervisory Board. If the Board makes proposals about how the new scheme is to be implemented, it is our job to assess these. We then check whether the different groups in the new pension scheme can make a good relaunch and acquire an honest share in the pension assets.

  • This year, the Accountability Body will do everything to ensure it makes more contact with those it represents. We wish to tell those we represent more about what we do. However, we would also like to hear about the wishes and requirements of young and old employees, pensioners, deferred participants and large and small employers.
